VARIOUS ARTISTS "SOUL TOGETHERNESS 2000" (EXPANSION)
Expansion records is with no doubt the best british soul label committed with Modern Soul, if you want to know more about it, check out their web site at www.musiclinks.com/expansion/. This cd, compiled by modern soul legend Richard Searling, is a tribute to the sounds spun in the modern rooms at Blackpool Weekenders and at King's Hall Allnighters. The sound spectrum is so wide and open minded that embraces from early 70's soul, let's say Gwen Mcrae and the beatiful "Lead Me On" to the recent "All For Love" by Derick Hughes dating 2000! The opening track "Somebody Knows How You Feel" by Ivan Matias (One of the most rare records on the modern scene, as R. Searling says in the liner notes) along with Tower Of Power monster "It Really Doesn't Matter" and "I'm So In Love With You" by Wizdom, the great "Baby Baby Don't Waste My Time" penned by Gladys Knight & the Pips or Leon Debouse's ultra rare "Every Fella's Girl" are marvellous examples of the natural development of Soul Music into a groovy modern sound! Some might feel a bit confused in finding out this 2000 release in our reviews page, but we're just filling the gaps, and felt like suggesting you this number. If you happen to find it don't miss it, you won't regret it!
