Still a teenager Shirley won an amateur night at the Apollo Theatre... not impressed yet? Well listen to this CD...it contains her complete Congress recordings (as at Connoisseur Collection are specializing in fullfilling all our needs of soul). Her live performances were classy & sassy with her voice overwhelming the audience and covering the "Nitty Gritty theme" rebounding a little too often. Anyway if you are into R&B, this is surely a good Cd. I personally do like also her ballads, "Shy One" is a great example. But you won't surely discuss on "the Nitty Gritty", "Bring It On Home to Me" "Taking Care Of Business" "CC Rider" & "Kansas City", would you?
